# Group select behavior modification

At present, the group select (“rubber-band” select) operates as an intersect window. Any items that touch the selection window are selected.

It has started to become common practice that if a group select window is created from left to right, it operates as a containment window (only items fully contained in the window are selected), and if it is created from right to left it operates as an intersect window (the behavior today). Sometimes the two use a different highlight color or border style to indicate the difference.

Is there any interest in adopting this approach?

Yes I think that would be nice. And there’s already an issue for this:

Note that for such small feature requests, it is fine to discuss it directly on GitHub 😉 The forum is mainly preferred for big, complex feature requests which need a lot of discussion (and may take years to ever get implemented) like simulation support, panelizing, push&shove router etc.
