# Is it a one sided or two sided board?

If I make a board that has copper on one side only and nothing on the other side, it is considered a one (single) sided board. But if the other side has no copper but has solder mask and silkscreen is that still considered a single sided board? Even if there is a “process” on both sides of the board?

How does that matter? Usually _you_ specify what processing steps the PCB manufacturer shall do. For example PCBWay:

But in any way, be careful with “single sided” boards. THT pads need copper on the opposite side of the device (mounting side != solder side). So all the traces need to be on the opposite side than the devices.

IMHO usually it is not worth to produce single-sided boards since the price difference to double-sided boards (if there’s a price difference at all) is not relevant in most cases…
