Best way to align traces/vias?

What is the best way to align vias with a trace? My old method in Eagle was to route the trace and via, look at the X or Y position of the trace, then move the via to that correct location. Not a great method but it worked.

Is there a better way in Libre? Right now you can’t see where the trace coordinates are. My current work flow is to zoom in and use the mouse to hover in the right spot to get the location. In the image above this is how I did the trace / via for the GND net. The 3.3V net is offset and needs the via moved “in line” to the trace.

Hi,

You could get the exact trace coordinates with the measure tool as it snaps to traces:

Probably that’s currently the only way. Generally I hear this issue for my first time because normally people simply don’t care about such exact alignment (usually it’s not relevant at all for production), it’s more a cosmetic thing :see_no_evil: However, I think it would be worth a feature request anyway.

That works so much better! Thanks for the tip.

A pretty board is a good board

I opened a feature request to keep this in mind
