I know it costs a few $$ (about 130), but it might be an idea to get a code signing certificate from ssl.com or somewhere like that so Windows instal etc. doesn’t complain so much. It’s easy to do - sign both the images and the kit.
Just a thought.

Hi,
Yeah we are aware of that. I already asked to get free signing from SignPath but they don’t support our CI system yet.
And AFAIK it costs more than 130$/y – from ssl.com you either also need to buy the Yubikey for 279$ (which is a bit cumbersome since signing cannot be automatically done on CI) or you need eSigner (cloud signing) for at least 180$/y, then it would cost 310$ every year.
Yeah, that makes sense the costs can add up pretty quickly with SSL. com, especially when you include the YubiKey or eSigner subscription. If you’re just looking for a reliable and more affordable option for code signing, you could check out once at SignMyCode. They offer both standard and EV code signing certificates at reasonable prices, and the setup process is pretty straightforward.
It works well for developers who want to sign software, drivers, or installers so that Windows doesn’t flag them as untrusted. Worth taking a look if you want to keep things simple and cost-effective. I hope it helps!
