I am sure many of you have noticed on Mouser, Digikey, and other distributors that there are links provided to download component ECAD Models, from schematics, footprints and 3D models.
The one I tend to use the most is SamacSys, but there are others like SnapMagic and Ultra Librarian.
Firstly, none provide a librePCB download option.
So, the question is, which library works best. Is it just Eagle or are there other import options available.
Currently the Eagle import is the only way to use the components from these websites. Note that generally our preferred way to distribute components is trough our library manager since it is way more comfortable than downloading each component manually from various websites. So make sure to install the corresponding libraries and always check first if the component is not contained before downloading something manually – but yes of course, many components are not available yet.
My personal way is to create missing components on my own (often quick&dirty, takes just a few minutes) and use the STEP models provided on the websites you mentioned. The 3D view is very helpful to check if the footprint drawn in a hurry is correct
