Help for my first design Please!

Hello,

I’ve to design a very simple coil but I’ve no idea of how to derive my design with LibrePCB since there isn’t any circuit in it… If somebody have the skills to design such simple circuit and will help…

Thank you in advance for any small initial boost !

Best

Hi,

Please have a look at the getting started videos and tutorials:

If something is not clear, please describe what you want to do exactly. Unfortunately I don’t understand what you mean with “a very simple coil” and “there isn’t any circuit in it”.

Hello and first of all thank you for your fast answer.

Well, I tried to begin alone with several softwares (KiCAD, LibrePCB, EasyEDA, etc.) but they all are more easy to use for circuit design. My project is not so complicated… In fact I want to design a very small elliptical coil on a 60 x 10 mm. The track starts at the entry pad at the bottom of one side of the coil, then rises for 6 cm, bridges to the opposite height, then descends for 6 cm, bridges again to approach the starting pad, and so on, rising again… On the last upward turn, the exit pad is on the same side as the entry pad but at the top (not easy to do with only one side…). The ascending AND descending tracks must not exceed a width of 2 mm, and the gap between the two groups is 4.5 mm. The total width of the active areas will therefore be 2x2+3 = 7 mm. The DC resistance should be around 8 ohms and the AC current rating will not exceed 1A. I am attaching a small drawing to illustrate the project… The constraint here is to have as much tracks as possible for the given DC resistance and density current in a Flex PCB as thin and as light as possible.
Thank you for your invaluable help in this small project. Please, let me know if you need any additional info.

Ok so in this case you don’t really need a schematic, but technically you still need it to create a net (the net of the coil). For this, just draw a short piece of net line like this:

Looks stupid, but it is required to define a net for the coil. Then in the board, add two pads (with right-click) and draw the trace:

It’s simplified, but it should show the required steps. All the details are explained in the tutorials.
