What layers get printed by silk screen?

Hi,

Is there a list anywhere for which of these will get printed during production? I am wanting to clearly label stuff and I figured out that “Top Names” gets printed during production, but wanting to know what all else is?

Thank you

Hi,
This can be configured in the Board Setup dialog:

The 3D board viewer respects these settings so in general (with some limitations/exceptions) you will get the PCB as it is displayed there.

Also see the explanation of every layer in the docs: Layers | LibrePCB Documentation

I tried this and I cant get any silkscreen text to show up in the 3D view. Should it?

I tried setting the text properties Layer to Top Legend and turning on “Legend Top” in the layers check list. I also tried every other combination of layers. Doesnt show up.

Yes it should show up in the 3D viewer. I quickly checked and everything works as expected. If you are using LibrePCB 2.0, make sure the silkscreen and solder resist layers are not disabled in the 3D viewer (buttons at the top right in the view).

Otherwise, please provide more information. Show me screenshots of the text properties, board setup, and the 2D/3D views.

And of course, silkscreen is only possible if you also have the solder resist enabled. Without solder resist, there will be no silkscreen as manufacturers will not print silkscreen on copper.

That is the problem. I was trying to put the silkscreen on copper.
Makes sense. Thanks.
