Generic ICs

Hello,

I’m new to creating PCBs, and I want to DIY as much as possible. I’m attempting to make something using some logic ICs (Specifically CD4046), and I’m trying to make some generic DIP ICs for this use. My problem is I’m not sure I’m making the Package right. I want to print the circuit and etch it, but don’t know the footprint or how to accurately use it. I also can’t figure out how to attach the Package to the component, just not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just follow the tutorial, it explains how to create packages and how they are assigned to devices:

https://librepcb.org/docs/quickstart/create-library-elements/

Other than that it’s hard to help you as I can’t see a clear question. If the tutorial doesn’t help, please clarify what’s exactly the question.

Footprints are documented (usually with drawing) in the datasheet of the part you want to use.
