Hey! Got my first full board routed out and I am working on exporting the STEP file for our mechanical team. However I am getting this error.
I can email over the project if needed or is there a work around for this?

Hi!
Huh never seen this before. As malloc failed, may it be a very large design and not enough free RAM available? If possible, it might be worth trying on another computer.
And yes, if you send me the project, I’ll try to reproduce it (you should have my address, or just see Contact | LibrePCB). If it’s really caused by a large design, it would be interesting to see how large it needs to be and why it requires so much RAM.
After a reboot overnight it exported just fine. Seems restarting LibrePCB might be the solution? Maybe It was using to much ram yesterday after I was updating all my parts with 3d models? If it happens again I will look at the memory usage and see if it changes after a restart.
Ok thanks for the feedback, great to hear it works now. Yeah not just restarting LibrePCB, but especially rebooting the whole computer frees up a lot of memory. And large PCBs with big STEP files require quite some memory. For the STEP models in our official libraries we try our best to keep them as small as possible. But the STEP models from part manufacturers often are extremely large…
Anyway, if you have some information about memory usage of LibrePCB during STEP export and e.g. a screenshot of the exported STEP model (to get an idea of the complexity) would be very interesting to know.
