Can`t connect pin with wire using symbol variants

So, for example, I have a MIC5205 regulator.

I want to have different symbol variant for the adjustable version. I am creating a new signal and assigning it to the old pin.

But on the layout, I can’t connect a wire to that pin.

Hmm this sounds wrong to me. Either the component has an adjustable pin or not, so these should be two separate components. Symbol variants are intended only to represent the same electrical functionality by different symbols.

Look like I do not fully understand the concept of symbol variants yet, I will elaborate on that.
