Saving layer sets

Is there a way to save sets of visible layers for quick switching between preset sets of visible layers?

It could be an extension of the preset system that currently has buttons for top, bottom, both, all, or none, if we could add user definable sets to that it would be useful.

At the moment there’s no way to save custom layer presets, but it’s clearly on my ToDo list.
